At last!! 2,000 Unique POTA Parks
Today, I finally crossed the 2,000 unique hunted park marker. It’s been a minute for sure. The first 1,000 came pretty quickly, even the first 1,500. But things have slowed down quite a bit. While I’m happy about it, in … Continue reading

POTA Progress
I’ve made quite a bit of progress toward 2,000 unique parks in the month of February, despite losing time to the Blizzard of ’26. On Jan 1 I was sitting at 1,820 parks. Two months later I’m up to 1,937. … Continue reading

1800 Unique POTA Parks
Back on the 27th of September, I had 1,700 unique parks. As of yesterday I added another 100; so it took 74 days to add 100 parks. Perhaps I might get to 2,000 parks sometime in May of 2026.

Still Hunting Parks
I go through bursts of activity (mostly between never-ending doctor visits), sometimes hunting a dozen or more stations in a day. But still the march up to 2000 unique parks is slow. For example, yesterday I worked a dozen stations; … Continue reading

Maybe not so slow?

Speaking of Slow POTA Crawl
POTA is a global program and there are thousands of parks at DX locations. My experience with this has been limited. I believe that many of the DX activators are using QPR rigs and compromised antennas (not unlike their North … Continue reading

The Slow Crawl to 2000 Unique POTA Parks
Just a bit over a year ago, I had reached the 1,500 unique POTA Park mark. I figured perhaps another year might be required to get to 2,000, the next milestone. Boy was I wrong. It took me a bit … Continue reading

Operator-to-Operator Award With AB9CA
Dave AB9CA is another one of those POTA operators who always seems to be on the road and on the air. I usually hear him multiple times a day. I finally completed a Operator-to-Operator award with Dave earlier this month.

Hunted K4NYM 500 Times
During the summer months, Bill Brown K4NYM, wasn’t on nearly as often as before – perhaps avoiding the heat, or dodging the many storms that Florida has endured. Even so, Bill and I worked each other 500 times. 100 of … Continue reading

Late Shift Hunter Award
There is always some new award to chase in the Parks on the Air program. This morning, I finally received the Late Shift Hunter award. This took years for me as I am rarely at the radio in the evenings. … Continue reading
